Project 01 B :
Architectural Design Strategy
From this point, the focus will swift to the design of the architecture tp fit this building in this urban site. A series of design consideration need to be made in this stage of design for an appropriate & problem-solving architectural responses that address to the urban street context and user behavioral patterns.
The studio employs content-driven design approach in which architecture becomes a solution to relevant issues. The solution is in design as a purposeful narrative to powerful questions relevant to the context (Low, 2010).
Aim: to deduct a position for sustaining an architecture for place-making
From all the information collected, the direction in again narrow down the choices of site (chosen site B)to develop a series of massing that fit for to the site.
Objectives:

To establish Community Centre as a possibility in the context

To explore needs analysis for programmatic requirements and spatial layout of the design scheme

To explore formal and structural design idea/strategy

To explore urban theories from Project 1a towards design strategies
Rough primary concept is being develop from the sense, FORGOTTEN, activities and programs for this community center planned according to the need and lifestyle of the local community
Attempts is given for the exploration on design element, schematic design and strategies on to fuse the building into the context meanwhile providing the desired senses need to be delivered to the end user.
From the keyword 'FORGOTTEN' I collected some images of the site that make and some lost pieces which make me feel heart broken as the site is sending a warning that the origin and the root of this community is broken into fragment.
Hence, "REMINISCE the NOSTALGIC MEMORIES" become me design intention to preserve the heritage and culture of the site.
From the massing development, I was responded to the sources of user which is from the old market square Kuala Lumpur, LRT Masjid Jamek and maintaining the current function of the site which is as a shortcut for the local to pass from one street to another street. Besides, to fit the building to the site with a huge contrast of building high is both side, an gradual increasing of level was adapted use first while the layering of level presented as an attraction to the user to visit the building. Pitch roof was adapted used to respond to the vernacular building besides.
When come to the floor plan planning, I was divided the floor into a series of fragment, while each fragment is representing missing apart of this community. Hence, a complete, warmth and life feeling community will be presented to the old town of the city.
However, in this stage of design, all the design was just intended, refine was needed to future improve and meet my design intention to the community.

Every single thinking, strategies, and responses were documented into an essay report.
However, this might said as an design journal for me to keep me in the right track toward my design intention. This record everything I done for this project and ensuring everything go in a right way.

Reflection
Getting us ready to implement our intention, concept and design idea. This assignment put us as a student and a fresh men in the urban design scale project step by step, guiding us from extracting the information we collected, brain storm idea, inspired, face, and solve the problem and challenges. With observe, think, draw, implement and record, this teach me personally a principle as an new future architect to always have a record on what I have done along to have a look back to the design journey for each project. This also may put into the account of the consideration to the local authority building rule, UBBL and building law that we must be take to stand a building up physically in real world.
In short, this project is greatly played its role as an intermediate comma pre[paring us to the real architecture field as it reminding us check everything well, not leaving anything important behind and keep checking every singl element go legally in a correct way.
